SF101X Degree Project in Applied Mathematics and Industrial Economics, First Cycle

In general: the main part of the studies, at least 120 credits of which at least 108 credits among the compulsory courses on the engineering programme in Industrial economics and the course in optimization (SF1811) should be completed before the Bachelor's degree project may be started. It falls on examiner to see to it that the student has appropriate in-depth subject study and that the student has completed sufficient parts of the studies before the Bachelor's degree project is started. The Bachelor's degree project should normally be carried out under the education last semester.
Degree Project consists of an individual assignment within a problem area that is decided by examiner. It should normally constitute a part of a specialisation in the first cycle of studies. The Bachelor's essay should be equivalent to 10 weeks of full-time studies. The work should be presented in a written report and an oral presentation at an open seminar.
After the course, the students should be able to
- apply relevant knowledge and skills that have been acquired within the main field of study on a given problem,
- within given frames, independently be able to analyse and discuss issues and solve larger problems on a basic level within the main field of study,
- document and present their work according to the requirements of structure, formalities and language
- reflect on, evaluate and review their own and others' scientific results,
- identify their need for additional knowledge and take responsibility for their knowledge progression.
