The course is carried out in project form.
The projects are carried out as a cooperation between KTH and companies that are the employers of the projects. The emphasis for the projects lies within the production engineering field, i.e. is mainly of technical character, but it also contains important aspects of business and management.
After passing the course, the student should be able to:
- apply knowledge and skills from earlier courses and acquire new knowledge when necessary
- identify, compare and critically assess aspects of a complex production engineering related problem that requires knowledge within production, business and management for its solution
- apply models and practical methods for preparing and suggesting a solution to a complex production engineering related problem that requires knowledge within production, business and management for its solution, considering relevant scientific, social, ethical and sustainability aspects
- organise, handle and lead a complex project that runs over a long period of time, in collaboration with employers and project members
- present the work both in writing and orally, in a scientific and convincing way
- argument for the chosen working methods and the reliability of the results when they are exposed to criticism, and give constructive criticism to an equivalent project task
