Prerequisites
In order to follow the course a student must have completed a Masters´degree in architecture or adjoining fields, or have an equivalent level of education. Priority is given to students enrolled at KTH or as doctoral students in architecture at other universities.
The course aims to deepen and broaden the student´s knowledge in architecture and adjoining fields in order to support research studies. In addition, the aim is to develop the skills and knowledge in reflective participation in academic seminars and contexts. The course consists of chosen seminars where the student prepares through reading material and actively participates as presenter, opponent, or active seminar participant. The specific seminars to include are defined by examiner and doctoral student but should generally consist of a minimum of one seminar with preparation, participation, and follow-up per course credit.
After the course, the student should be able to
- Give a count for a field of theory, method, discourse, or similar for which the content of the specific iteration of the course has been designed
- Critically reflect over this as well as give account for its relation to research in general
- Discuss the relation to and relevance for ones´own research work
- Participate in a critical, dynamic and constructive discussion of a field of theory, method, discourse or similar for which the content of the iteration of the course has been designed in the format of academic seminars
