For single course students: 180 credits and documented proficiency in English B or equivalent
Speakers from universities and industry will be invited to present their current work. The contents are defined by the speakers. The course wants to reflect the current interest in research and development in industry in at least some areas with a focus towards information, communication and networking. Since the activity in these fields is high, the contents of the course will naturally change from year to year.
Both more research and more product oriented talks will be given and the seminar series provide a good opportunity to increase the general knowledge in some of the more active areas of current interest. It also provides valuable contacts with different companies and some insight into potential tasks after completing the degree. The speakers may also say something about thesis projects opportunities. The course is being an excellent complementary to other courses in the area..
A mandatory individual essay assignment is part of the examination. The assignment consists of writing a short (3-4 pages) popular scientific survey of one or several of the topics that have been covered in the seminars. The text should be on a level of difficulty such that it could be easily understood by other students taking similar specializations.
The course wants to highlight the applications and research problems which currently are of high interest in industry. Invited speakers from industry and universities present their work and give personal views on the different areas.
After completing the course, the student should be able to:
• Show a good knowledge about the state of the art in research and development in the respective field.
• Show the ability to survey information in a specific technical area, critically assess and make personal reflections and judgments.
